Why Vizag is known as the city of destiny?
Visakhapatnam The name was coined after Visakha, the Hindu god of valor. It is surrounded by the Eastern Ghats and faces Bay of Bengal on the east. Serene beautiful beaches and uniqueness of Vizag, It is also called the City of Destiny, because of its landscape view and very attractive beaches hillocks full of greenery are treasures. It is the headquarters of Eastern Naval Command.

Visakhapatnam is the actual name of the city which was anglicized to Vizagapatam and In a shorter form, Vizag. The area north of the city towards the sea was named as Waltair after the British general. The city's railway stations to fall under its Waltair division.
